What are your memories of Grange Baths?

Grange Lido

Did you learn to swim at Grange Baths? Did you spend those summer days on the patio basking in the sun? Were you brave enough to jump off the highest diving board?

Save Grange Lido is seeking your memories of the old swimming pool for a series of events this fall.

People are invited to share their stories and memories of the baths. The team listens to everyone who bathed in Grange or visited the lido, as well as everyone who worked at the pool or was involved in its operation.

SGL would also like to see photos of Grange Baths alongside newspaper clippings and memorabilia which will be photographed and added to the Grange Lido archive.

The free events will take place at Victoria Hall in Grange on Friday October 28 from 12pm to 4pm and Saturday November 12 from 12pm to 4pm. There will also be a café serving tea and homemade cakes.

The events are part of a project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and aim to help the group develop the Grange lido archive.

As part of the project, Save Grange Lido volunteers are trained by the Oral History Society.

The Community Benefit Society has appointed Anna Watson, a retired archivist from Lancashire Archives, to lead the project.

Anna provides professional advice on how the Lido archives can be developed, stored and protected.
