Aligarh: A Muslim from Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh has filed for divorce from his wife because she does not bathe every day. The problem arose after the wife filed a complaint with the Women’s Protection Unit in hopes of saving her marriage.

The woman is from Kwarsi village, while the man is from Chandaus village. They got married two years ago and have a one-year-old child.

The couple are now advised by the Aligarh Women’s Protection Unit.

“A woman lodged a written complaint with us saying that her husband had given her a triple talaq under the pretext of not bathing every day. We are accompanying the couple and their parents to save their marriage, ”said a counselor working with the Protection of Women. Cell, News 18 reported.

The counselor added that the woman has expressed her wish to continue the marriage and live a happy life with her husband.

“The man, during the counseling, told us repeatedly and firmly that he wanted to end his relationship with the woman. He also made a request to us to help him divorce his wife because she do not bathe every day, ”added the adviser. noted.

In the petition, the man told the Women’s Protection Cell that they had a verbal argument every day after asking his wife to take a bath.

“We are trying to advise the man not to end his marriage with his wife as it is a minor issue and can be resolved. We also try to make him understand that their divorce can affect education as well. of their child, “he added. said the advisor.

The Women’s Protection Unit gave the couple time to think about saving their relationship.

The members of the Cell also indicated that since the reason for the divorce petition does not relate to any act of violence or crime against women, the petition cannot proceed. They try to solve the problem with the help of advice.
