The National Parks Trust (NPT) has decided to limit the number of people allowed to enter the territory’s national parks at any given time.
The Trust did not disclose what that limit would be when it announced the change on Thursday.
But he said the decision was made to avoid overcrowding, maintain “travel bubbles”, allow social distancing and comply with local COVID-19 protocols.
“On days when cruise ships are in port, Grands Bains National Park will be closed to residents and non-guests of cruise ships between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.,” the NPT said.
“The park will reopen once the necessary cleaning and disinfection procedures have been undertaken,” he added.
Notices will be posted on the National Parks Trust of the Virgin Islands Facebook page, he added.
Meanwhile, the announcement of the NPT came less than 24 hours before the arrival of Celebrity Millennium Royal Caribbean Group Celebrity Cruises. It is the first cruise ship to return to the BVI in over a year.
