The main objective of the New River Prairie Wellness Center is complete health.

Robert and Rima DeFatta, ear, nose and throat specialists, wanted to bring some of the best wellness technology in the world to their own backyard. So they created the new River Prairie Wellness Center, which is now open at 1470 Rivers Edge Trail in Altoona.

After working at Sacred Heart Hospital and then opening their own DeFatta ENT and Allergy practice, the DeFattas quickly realized the area was missing some key things that could up the Valley’s wellness game.

The River Prairie Wellness Center includes Seven Spa – a world-class medical spa featuring some of the latest technology in the beauty industry, such as VISIA Skin Analysis, CoolSculpting, IV Treatments, facials, botox, hair removal laser, Physiq, etc.

“People were always like, ‘Oh, that’s Eau Claire. If you really want to get something good, you have to go to Chicago or the Twin Cities,” Robert DeFatta said. “But why?”

“This city has been so good to us,” Rima added. “We really wanted to reinvest in the community.”

Seven Spa is one of three companies currently operating in the River Prairie Wellness Center.

Robert DeFatta is Seven’s Medical Director and is board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is committed to ensuring that every patient gets the results that make them look and feel their best.

“I almost wish it wasn’t called a spa because when I think someone thinks of spas they think of eyelash extensions and all that, but it’s so much more than that,” said Rima. “These are real-life things that people encounter that have to do with how you look, but also have a lot to do with how you feel and your true inner health.”

The Willow Creek Women’s Clinic, now located at the River Prairie Wellness Center, has served women in downtown Eau Claire for 16 years, providing personalized primary care by women, for women. The owner, Linda Poirier, said she was delighted to continue to provide excellent services to women in the Valley, with even more space than before.

When designing the River Prairie Wellness Center, which opened in early January, the Defattas wanted to consider all aspects of health and wellness. After giving birth to their son, Rima Defatta realized how difficult it could be for a mother to find a quiet place to breastfeed her children. That’s why there’s a fully functional mother’s room on the ground floor of the River Prairie Wellness Center.

“Because we have a lot of women coming here,” Rima said, “it’s just something we had to provide.”

“It’s the right thing to do,” Robert added.

The DeFattas also own the Xavier Bistro, located in the wellness center.

In addition to the two health offerings, the DeFattas have also opened the doors to Xavier Artisan Bistro so patients and guests have access to healthy and delicious food, while also having a place to relax. (Check out our full article specifically on Xavier Artisan Bistro here.)

“Over the past two years, everyone has been through a lot of mental stress,” Rima said. “It is time to turn a new page.
