1. “Is my hair growth normal? “
Every body is different, and that includes the hair that grows on it. There is no such thing as “normal” when it comes to hair on your body.
“Body hair is functional and exists to keep us warm, provide protection and wick away sweat,” explains Dr. Kristina Semkova, consultant dermatologist at the Cadogan clinic. “Everyone has different amounts of body hair and this can be influenced by a number of factors such as age, ethnicity, genetics, hormonal activity and stress levels.”
So in short, your body hair is likely to be quite normal. However, Dr. Semkova recommends consulting your doctor in certain circumstances.
“Too much hair on the face, chest or stomach with irregular, heavy, or painful periods could be a sign of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS),” she explains.
2. “Are you okay if I don’t pluck my hair?” “
Hair trends come and go, and people are choosing whether or not to remove their hair since. stone Age (Yes really!). These days, however, what you do with your body hair depends on your personal preferences, and naturalness has never been more in vogue. Take inspiration from celebrities like Amanda Stenberg and Miley Cyrus to proudly adopt your natural hair.
Likewise, others make the choice to wax one way or another – and that’s great too. Ultimately, it’s about feeling empowered to make independent choices about your body.
3. “What’s the best way to remove my hair? “
Again, there is no right answer here, and if you do decide to wax, there are plenty of ways to do it. Of course, there are the traditional methods of hair removal, such as waxing, shaving or waxing. “Vellus hairs have evolved to help protect the skin and lock in heat. In contrast, it is believed that terminal hairs developed as a useful means of signaling that an individual was mature and capable of reproduction. Who knew?
5. “Help! How do I stop the dreaded ingrown hairs?”

“Ingrown hairs can be minimized with gentle, regular exfoliation between waxing,” says Dr Semkova. “If you shave, be sure to use a sharp razor with shaving foam or gel. You should always shave in the same direction as the hair grows, using as few strokes as possible and rinsing the blade to clean it after each stroke.
